In December 2007 I had the opportunity to spend some time at Cill Rialaigh artists retreat in Ballinskelligs, Co Kerry. I was fascinated with the long haired mountain sheep wandering around our deserted village oblivious to the wind, rain and worst winter storms on record. I began to study them and followed with a series of drawings and paintings. The wild West of Ireland coastline has a haunting beauty to it and I also spent some time on Inis Mor, the biggest of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway. This also followed with a series of paintings and drawings.
